The Last Night

Original Concept

Create a music video to demonstrate understanding of Premiere Pro editing software for Digital Communication Technologies and Interactive Digital Media courses.

Evolved into producing a long-envisioned short film narrative set to "Cocaine Jesus" by Rainbow Kitten Surprise, exploring themes of loss, grief, and an visual interpretation of what happens when you can’t let go.

Project Medium

Short film production combining narrative storytelling, music video aesthetics, and digital cinematography using Premiere Pro.

Special Considerations

Developed as a final project for Digital Communication Technologies and Interactive Digital Media courses at UCCS with a three-week production timeline. The film required balancing ambitious creative vision with practical constraints including actor availability, shooting locations, and equipment rental coordination.

Due to time and budget limitations, incorporated stock footage and left some green screen work unrefined, though plans exist to revisit and complete the full visual story. The project evolved from a simple music video assignment into a complex narrative exploring heavy themes through humor and absurdity, featuring a classic sheet ghost costume to maintain a lighthearted tone.

In Summary

"The Last Night" premiered at the UCCS Visual and Performing Arts Film Festival to strong audience response and was subsequently selected for screening at The Independent Film Society of Colorado's Short Film Festival. This project marked a significant creative milestone, combining storytelling, cinematography, and editing techniques in new ways while returning to my childhood visualization methods of imagining scenes while listening to music on repeat.
