Original Idea

Create a scientific visual identity for the mycology club that established academic credibility while avoiding stereotypical psychedelic mushroom imagery.

Special Considerations

Since I had limited knowledge of mycology, I conducted thorough research into the field. This revealed the complex importance of mycelium networks, which became the foundation for a hand-drawn logo pattern. For apparel, I learned about the importance of spore prints within mycological societies and I digitally illustrated over actual spore prints in scattered arrangements to highlight nature’s organic randomness.

The work was recognized as the contest winner and featured on the club’s social media platforms and website.
